Finally back after a long time and as always I have something to think about. Here we go.
We grow, earn money and certainly each one of us want to marry a girl (exceptions ignored) but to which level has this pious marriage thing declined have we ever thought. The ceremony which announces the bonding of two people has now turned into a business. My readers must be well known of the present market rates ,P.O- 10 lakh , Engineer-15 lakh ,Doctors-30 lakh and so on it continues with a post to money directly proportional theory. If you have some new rates then do comment. These exchanges don't make problems if both the parties are wealthy but for the middle class and poor it act as a barrier. The rich class easily fulfill the demands and the middle in race of copying the upper somehow manages to save their nose but these by the above two makes it a ritual for the poor ones.
Dowry has so much flourished that it has become an integral part of today marriages. Its very interesting to know this dowry thing is mostly practiced among the lower levels of the society. I recently knew about a negotiation in which a boy with Rs 9000 income demanded for a pulsar NS, standard commodities and the travelling expenses of the grooms side. So from here only you can see to what extent of moral illness are we infected. Have we lost our self respect or aren't we capable of getting these on our own. Sometimes the parents are also involved in these cases. Every year thousand of dowry cases are being registered but still neither the count is going low nor the people are getting aware. Demand has become a trend in modern marriages.
So we should sincerely think on this issue. We too have sisters, if not someday we may have a daughter and that day we will feel the pain a poor father has whose daughter is not getting married for just a failure of dowry arrangement. Brothers please try to think that a successful and strong marriage is based on true love,trust and respect not on how much the girl side pays you or how heavy you demand. What respect will you ask for if dowry was more prior to you than your wife. This is what we will do and this is what we will teach our children. Certainly not ! .Either rich or poor everyone should try to stop it.Its never easy to sail against the wind but if we try with firm determination surely we can bring a change though a slow one.
